About GO4FUSION

Launched in January 2025 and funded by the European Commission through Euratom, GO4FUSION accelerates nuclear fusion development by building a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), a collaborative framework between public and private entities.

The project unites key stakeholders from industry and research to tackle technological challenges and advance fusion energy towards commercial operation through co-designed strategic goals.

It will establish a Research and Innovation plan and foster collaboration on industry-driven projects, supported by EU funding, to demonstrate fusion's readiness and strengthen the Euratom Call in 2026 and beyond.

Context

Fusion energy offers a clean, sustainable, and virtually limitless power source, crucial for decarbonizing Europe’s energy sector and ensuring long-term energy security.

As Europe faces growing energy demands, fusion energy is seen as a pivotal solution to reduce dependency on fossil fuels. Achieving this goal, however, requires continued research and development alongside a strong commitment to collaboration between the public and private sectors.

The European Commission is committed to supporting and fostering the European fusion community and industry, taking decisive steps to strengthen and advance the EU’s technological leadership in this field.

Why GO4FUSION?

GO4FUSION is an important European project supported by the European Commission through the Euratom Coordination and Support Action (Grant Agreement 101212737). Its goal is to bring together a wide range of European fusion stakeholders, preparing the foundation for a future Public-Private Partnership (PPP) on Fusion Energy as part of the Euratom Research and Training Programme. By creating a unified platform, GO4FUSION helps accelerate innovation, align different stakeholders, and drive collective efforts to make fusion energy a reality.
